In a symbolic gesture underscoring continuity and shared vision, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), Professor Ransford Gyampo, has been presented with a Manifesto Scroll of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), covering the period 1992 to 2020.
The scroll is a comprehensive compilation of the party’s manifestos spanning nearly three decades and brings together its promises, policy direction and governance philosophy in a single document.
Presenting the scroll, the Technical Advisor and Deputy CEO of the Ghana Library Authority (GLA), Mr Delali Yao Adiamah, explained that the document embodies the enduring ideals of the NDC, which must be clearly understood and upheld by all appointees of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana.
He noted that consolidating the party’s manifestos into one accessible volume is intended to strengthen knowledge-sharing and provide a convenient reference to the party’s social contracts and commitments to the people of Ghana.
“This should guide appointees to do their best to realise the ideas and ideals of the party,” Mr Adiamah stated. “It also serves as a reminder to serve in humility. Every office holder is a public servant, and that must not be lost on them. Our collective success reflects on the party, and this scroll, which embodies our shared vision, must serve as a daily guide.”
He added that the book offers readers the opportunity to clearly understand the party’s positions across key sectors of the national economy, including agriculture, energy, health and rural development, which remain central to Ghana’s transformation agenda.
Receiving the scroll, Prof Gyampo expressed appreciation for the gesture. He noted that haven researched and studied political party manifestoes in Ghana since 1992, one thing he is able to glean from NDC manifestoes are provisions that aims at reducing the cost of doing business in Ghana. He therefore reaffirmed his commitment to working assiduously to reduce the cost of doing business in the country, a step he described as critical to strengthening Ghana’s trade competitiveness.
“One of the running contents of NDC manifestoes over the years, has been the need to ensure that businesses thrive and, through this, accelerate the country’s economic development,” he said. “I am very grateful for this presentation. Already, we at the GSA have implemented some policies and programmes that reflect the spirit and letter of this scroll, particularly in the area of reducing the cost of doing business and we will continue to do more for the betterment of Ghana.”The Manifesto Scroll has already been presented to the Presidency through the Chief of Staff, with copies distributed to Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Heads of various State Agencies.
At the Ghana Shippers Authority, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Technical Services, Ms Sylvia Asana Dauda Owu, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Operations, Mr Prince Henry Ankrah, joined the CEO, Prof Ransford Gyampo, to receive the scroll, underscoring institutional commitment to the party’s vision.
