The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), Prof. Ransford Gyampo, has met with members of the Service Charge Collection Team of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority at Shippers’ House in Accra to review strategies aimed at strengthening service charge collection and improving compliance among stakeholders.
Prof. Gyampo described service charge revenue as central to the operations of the GSA, stressing that it remains the financial foundation that supports service delivery, institutional effectiveness, and the execution of the GSA’s mandate. He noted that without consistent compliance, the operational capacity of the organisation would be significantly constrained.
Addressing the team, the Chief Executive Officer commended the team for their commitment considering the demanding nature of their work, which he said plays a direct role in sustaining the GSA’s activities. He encouraged them to remain professional, disciplined, and innovative in their approach to revenue mobilisation.
“The work you are doing is fundamental to the survival of the GSA. Service charge collection enables us to function and deliver on our mandate. I appreciate your efforts and encourage you to remain committed, disciplined, and creative in improving compliance,” Prof. Gyampo said.
The meeting also focused on practical approaches to improving collection outcomes. Discussions highlighted the need for stronger stakeholder engagement, clearer communication on payment obligations, and more structured follow-up mechanisms to enhance timely compliance and reduce outstanding payments.
Prof. Gyampo further urged the team to adopt more proactive and innovative methods in addressing emerging challenges within the sector, noting that sustained improvement in revenue performance would depend on adaptability and consistency in execution.
He assured the team of management’s continued support in providing the necessary systems and tools to enhance their effectiveness and improve overall performance.
The engagement ended with renewed commitment from both management and the Service Charge Collection Team to strengthen compliance, improve revenue mobilisation, and support the long-term operational stability of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority.
