The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has received high praise from the government for its remarkable contributions to Ghana’s shipping and logistics industry over the past 50 years. The commendation was delivered by the Minister of Transport, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, during the launch of the GSA’s 50th Anniversary Celebrations in Accra.
The Golden Jubilee, themed “Celebrating 50 Years of Resilience, Honouring Our Legacy, and Inspiring Innovation Excellence,” highlights the GSA’s journey as a cornerstone of Ghana’s maritime sector. In his remarks, Hon. Asiamah expressed confidence that the GSA will achieve even greater milestones with the enactment of the GSA Act 2024, Act 1122.
“This is not the time to rest on your oars but to leverage on the passage of the GSA Act 2024, Act 1122 to work assidoulys to create a viable shipping environment that facilitates international trade and ensures fairness, efficiency and competitiveness for all players in the commercial shipping industry.”
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the GSA, Mr. Kwesi Baffour Sarpong, provided a glimpse into the Authority’s future, emphasizing plans to embrace cutting-edge innovations and expand its role in shaping the nation’s international trade landscape.
“Our vision for the next 50 years, we are looking at 7 focused areas; Customer centric Services and Organizational Growth, Trade Facilitation and Economic Integration, Shipping and Logistics Infrastructure, Digitalization & Innovation, Human Capital Development, Sustainability and Green Shipping as well as Local Content participation.”
The GSA’s 50th Anniversary is not only a celebration of its resilience and achievements but also a call to action for continued excellence. As the Authority charts its path forward, it remains poised to lead Ghana’s shipping and logistics sector into an era defined by innovation, sustainability, and global competitiveness.
