The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) on 14th July 2025 welcomed a delegation from the Advocates for Indigenous Freight Forwarders Association, a body dedicated to promoting the interests of local enterprises within the freight forwarding sector.
Led by Dr. Godfred Mawuli Tettey Ayenu, the group used the occasion to introduce itself to the GSA and affirmed its commitment to support GSA’s mandate of regulating Ghana’s commercial shipping industry with efficiency and integrity. The Association highlighted its mission to advocate for policy reforms that prioritize indigenous freight forwarders, while also providing training, resources, and strategic support to enhance the competitiveness of local businesses.
In its submission, the group emphasized the importance of creating a more favorable and enabling business environment to strengthen indigenous participation in the sector. They expressed their readiness to collaborate with the GSA in championing the broader interests of Ghanaian shippers.
In response, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, commended the group’s effort and welcomed its commitment to partnering with the Authority. He assured the delegation of GSA’s ongoing efforts to resolve the challenges facing shippers, adding that the Authority remains focused on ensuring that business practices within the commercial shipping industry are fair, transparent, and competitive.
This engagement marks the beginning of what both parties anticipate will be a productive and long-term collaboration aimed at empowering local freight forwarders and supporting sustainable growth across the shipping value chain.
