Touching on the theme of the event, “Emerging trends in Ghana’s maritime industry”, Mr. Sackey said the GSA was liaising with the National Insurance Commission (NIC) and the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) to sensitise importers on the need to insure their cargo locally in respect of the Marine Insurance Act, 2006 (Act 724).The sensitisation campaign is expected to address the over 93 per cent of imported cargo insured outside the shores of Ghana and also provide reliefs to importers to enjoy the benefits of local insurance.
Other speakers from the Ghana Maritime Authority and the private sector also gave presentations on how their outfits are responding to emerging trends in the maritime industry.
