The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has been named among the Top 100 brands in Ghana at the 2022 National Brands Innovation Awards. The Authority was also adjudged as the Trade Facilitation Company of the Year at an event held on Friday 27th May 2022 at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.
The awards came after the Research Department of the National Brands Innovation Forum reviewed the GSA’s mandate and the role it has played in promoting the interest of shippers across the country through various services rendered.
Some of the trade facilitation activities embarked on by the GSA include seminars held on Uncleared Cargo List (UCL) and its effects on the State’s coffers; nationwide education and sensitisation campaigns on the promotion of local marine insurance, avoidance of demurrage and rent payments at the ports; removal of non-tariff barriers through regular engagement with stakeholders; nationwide exporters’ fora to build the capacity of exporters; seminars for transit truck drivers and regular engagement with shipping service providers to resolve challenges in cargo handling at the ports.
Speaking on the theme “Brands and the AfCFTA; Opportunities in Africa.” the Board Chairman of UBA Bank Ghana Mr. Kwaku Andoh Awotwi who was the Special Guest of honor charged the awardees to add value to their brands to better position them to enjoy the benefits of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement.
More than 16 companies and their staff were awarded for the excellence in maintaining and improving their brand value.
The National Brands Innovation Forum’s Awards is intended to recognize, celebrate and honor outstanding brands, products, and service offerings across industries in Ghana while encouraging excellent brand delivery and a strive towards the creation of ‘masterbrands’ from Ghana to the world.
