The National Executive of Ghana Union of Trade Association (GUTA) on Friday 26th January 2018 paid a working visit to Ghana Shippers Authority to meet Ms. Benonita Bismarck, the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.
The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the newly elected National Executive to the Authority and to also congratulate Ms. Benonita Bismarck on her appointment as the Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.
Dr Joseph Obeng, the National President of GUTA, said there was the need for GSA to continue dialogue with the Association since the Association sees the Authority as the mouth piece of shippers and traders.
He reiterated, GUTA’s major role in the development of the nation and noted that since the establishment 20 years ago, it has enjoyed a cordial relationship with the Authority.
Dr Obeng said the Association will continue to dialogue and engaged stakeholders to promote the welfare of its members. He promised the Associations unflinching support for the Authority to enable it carry out its mandate of promoting and protecting shippers’ interests.
Ms Bismarck congratulated the new executive of GUTA and asked for God’s guidance for a successful tenure. She mentioned that the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA) has worked with GUTA and other stakeholders in the shipping industry in implementing interventions that had helped the growth of the industry.
The CEO advised that, there was the need for stakeholders to learn how to dialogue and work collaboratively for the effectiveness and efficiency of the ports.
Ms Bismarck said the Authority, as part of it programme for the year, will engage all stakeholders ‘We will be at your work places, the market, we would channel all your grievances to the appropriate quarters for redress’ she added.
