Professor Ransford Gyampo, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), has embarked on a working visit to the Western Zone, headquartered in Takoradi.
The visit, which took place on Monday, 17th February 2025, aimed to engage with staff, assess ongoing operations, and discuss ways to build in achievements chalked so far and also deal with pertaining challenges.
Professor Gyampo was warmly welcomed by the staff who were led by the Western Zonal Manager, Agnes Asamoah-Duku.
Prof. Gyampo’s interaction with the staff focused on avenues to foster collaboration, boost morale, and in effect align all effectively with the organization’s objectives. This move, Professor Gyampo said, is crucial in the quest to enhance the GSA’s aim to become a world class Regulator of the commercial shipping and logistics sector. He underscored GSA’s pivotal goal to protect and promote the interest of shippers as a means of securing a sustainable source of revenue generation for national development, whilst ensuring a conducive and fair playing field for actors in the international trading space, particularly exporters.
The Western Zone is a critical region for Ghana’s shipping industry, given the wealth of commodities it produces for export through the Takoradi. Also, GSA’s presence in the region is thus vital in facilitating smooth shipping operations, not only for that enclave, but also for Ghana’s neighboring countries who ply their international trade through the western corridor.
Prof. Gyampo’s engagement with the staff at the helm of the affairs of the Zone, demonstrates his deep understanding of leadership, and people management in particular, as a fundamental tool in his passionate quest to leave a positive legacy in the drive to improve the nation’s socio-economic fortunes.
He was accompanied by the Director of Operations, Sylvia Asana Dauda Owu; the Head of Human Resources & Administration, Boatemaa Manu-Antwi; and the Head of Corporate Affairs, Bernice L. Natue.
