Members of the Greater Accra Regional Shipper Committee (GARSC) comprising of importers and exporters and representatives of relevant Ministries, Departments and Government Agencies whose functions have a bearing on shipping and international trade, at their 99th GARSC meeting embarked on an educational tour of the Tema port.
The tour of the port afforded shippers and members of the GARSC to be enlightened on the operational practicalities accustomed with receiving vessels and the various types of cargoes handled at the port.
In addition, the roles of the various stakeholders and how such roles affect the free flow of goods through the clearance and supply chain were highlighted.
Members witnessed the discharge of cargoes from a fishing vessel, ro-ro (car carrier), dry bulk (cement), and the towing of a vessel into port to berth.
About fifty (50) members of the Committee embarked on the trip.
