Professor Ransford Gyampo, the CEO of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), has embarked on a tour of the Boankra Integrated Logistics Terminal (BILT) in the Ashanti Region.
The visit, which took place on Monday, 10th February, 2025, aimed to update Prof. Gyampo on the progress of the project.
Prof. Gyampo met with the project construction team which included Dr. Justice Amo, CEO, of Justmoh Construction Ltd, the Project Contractor, Ing. Jarra Siddique, Project Manager, Dr. John Koranteng Yorke and Ing. James Ofori-Boamah, both of Vision Consult, the Project’s Consultant.
The BILT project is a critical component of the government’s Ghana Trade and Investment Gateway (GHATIG) Program, which is designed to drive in-country socio-economic growth as well as trans-national connectivity, especially with Ghana’s landlocked Sahel neighbours. The strategic investment is thus envisaged to boost transit trade whilst step-changing commercial business activities within the middle belt of Ghana, particularly in the Ashanti region.
Both Dr. Yorke and Dr. Amoh in their remarks, underscored the strategic nature of the project, and urged the timely injection of financial resources to aid the completion of the project. They emphasized the potential of the project to create jobs and invariably improve the social-economic wellbeing of the communities around Boankra and its environs.
In his remarks, Prof. Gyampo thanked the contract team for their hardwork and professionalism, which is evident in the quality of works on the ground. He acknowledged their dedication to the timely completion of the project despite the challenges they have encountered. Prof. Gyampo assured the team that, “the government of His Excellency, John Mahama is committed to the completion of the project in record time due to its strategic importance to the nation, and will in that regard, lend his support to every effort to drive its progress.”
He further commended the near-all Ghanaian project team for proving that, indeed, Ghanaians have the capacity to execute world class projects to world class standards by themselves. He said ; “it’s exciting to see such great work being done under the leadership and direction of Ghanaians, and with a greater part of the team being Ghanaian.”
Upon completion, BILT will enhance Ghana’s logistics and transportation infrastructure, grow international trade, and boost the socio-economic status of the middle belt and northern sectors in particular.
