The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) and its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) have been honored at the maiden Responsible Business and Leadership Excellence Awards (RBLEA) in Accra.
The Authority was adjudged “Responsible Government Regulator of the year 2021” while the CEO, Ms. Benonita Bismarck was honored for her “Outstanding Contribution to the shipping Industry Development” at an event held on 29th March, 2022 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel.
The GSA was honored for its trade facilitation activities such as seminars held on Uncleared Cargo List (UCL) and its effects on the State’s coffers; nationwide education and sensitisation campaigns on the promotion of local marine insurance, avoidance of demurrage and rent payments at the ports; removal of non-tariff barriers through regular engagement with stakeholders; nationwide exporters’ fora to build the capacity of exporters; seminars for transit truck drivers; regular engagement with shipping service providers to resolve challenges. in cargo handling at the ports, among others.
The objective of the awards scheme is to champion the implementation of sound business governance and systems, and also prevent practices which hinder social development.
Some of the other categories for the awards were the Responsible CEO of the Year, Responsible Trade & Investment Leader of the Year, Responsible CSR and Community Development Impact Award, Responsible Brand of the Year, Responsible Business and Leadership Company of the Year and Industry Personality of the Year.
The RBLEA is an empowerment driven initiative that seeks to distinguish and uphold the achievements of inspiring corporate front-runners of responsible values. It also aims at defining and celebrating vision, achievement and excellence in business leadership in Ghana.
