The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has been recognized for its continued support to health facilities across the country over the years at the 2021 Sustainability and Social Investment (SSI) Awards.
The GSA was adjudged the ‘Best Company in Supporting Health Institutions and Facilities’ at the firth (5th) edition of the SSI Awards held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra on November 26, 2021.
Under the year of review, staff of the Authority donated five units of air-conditioners to assist with the running of operations at the Princess Marie Louise Hospital in Accra. Also, to support the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, the Board, Management and Staff of the Authority donated twenty (20) boxes and one hundred (100) gallons of liquid and gel sanitisers to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital) and the Tema General Hospital.
As part of efforts to support health facilities, the Authorities branch offices in Takoradi and Kumasi donated bedsheets and gallons of liquid soap to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Takoradi in the Western Region and Ejisu Government Hospital in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The organisers of the awards commended the GSA for its efforts in supporting these health institutions and facilities, noting that the purpose of the SSI Awards is to create awareness and encourage companies to deliver high impact CSI/CSR projects that align with the Government’s focus on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The Sustainability & Social Investment Awards is an initiative endorsed by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, National Road Safety Authority among others and aimed at identifying and publicly recognizing the impact made by companies, CSI/CSR foundations, NGO’s, individuals and other implementing agencies through exemplary success in voluntarily improving the quality of life of people and communities.
